As the Purchasing Agent/Buyer Intern for Schwebel’s Baking Company in Youngstown, Ohio, you will be an individual contributor collaborating with a diverse team of operational and corporate professionals. This role is responsible for the procurement of goods and services, vendor management, documentation, and reporting. The Purchasing Agent/Buyer for Schwebel’s reports to the Director of Purchasing and will support the enterprise from our corporate office and manufacturing site in Youngstown, Ohio.

- Purchase goods and services according to the company’s policies and procedures.
- Coordinates with managers to maintain inventory levels.
- Evaluates vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
- Works with vendors to negotiate volume and cash transaction discounts, and other available discounts.
- Ensures that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
- Documentation control and impeccable files are a necessity
- As a manufacturer of food products, compliance requirements necessitate the need to collect and track data associated with vendor audits, retain detailed information related to action resolution and provide requested reports on demand
- Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with negotiation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs.
- Production often operates 7 days a week so there will be some Saturdays required of Purchasing as scheduled by the Director of Purchasing.
