The Corporate Program Director of Trades, operating in a multifaceted capacity, reports to the Vice President of Curriculum Operations. This position oversees the development, implementation, and management of the organization's trades programs and OSHA training initiatives for all brands. The Corporate Program Director ensures all trades programs align with industry standards, meet regulatory requirements, and align with the organization’s strategic objectives, while fostering a safe and effective learning environment. This position is 80% travel.

Assist in supporting the strategic plan and outcomes for Southern Careers Institute, and other brands, through the following duties, responsibilities, expectations, and support of faculty in their roles as instructors, mentors, and practitioners.

  • Conduct regular, in-person, site visits to all SCI campuses and other designated off-site locations to audit, train, and perform related duties, ensuring standardization of instruction techniques, methods, resources, and use of supplies.
  • Prepare and deliver, in-person, OSHA10 training to current students, throughout the organization, who have successfully completed pre-requisites for this training.
  • Prepare and deliver, in-person, OSHA10 and / or OSHA30 training to all current trades occupation instructors, throughout the organization.
  • Develop, customize, and update training materials to align with industry needs and OSHA
  • Maintain necessary certifications and remain up to date on OSHA regulations and best
  • Ensure required training documentation is accurately completed, reported, and stored to meet internal and external compliance
  • Monitor adherence to all relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.
  • Conduct safety inspections of all SCI trades labs and classrooms, identifying and resolving potential hazards, to maintain compliance and promote safety.
  • Represent the organization in safety-related initiatives, ensuring OSHA compliance through evaluations and updates to training programs, policies, and procedures that align with regulatory updates and organizational goals.
  • Foster relationships with local industry partners to enhance program relevance and graduate job placement
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of trades programs to ensure alignment with institutional goals and industry standards.
  • Propose and assist in implementing necessary changes to curriculum, training programs, supplies, resources, and cost-effective strategies for the organization.
  • Monitor program effectiveness quarterly by examining student outcomes, retention rates, student feedback, placement rates, curriculum meeting feedback, and employer feedback.
  • Conduct quarterly meetings and all necessary training with trades programs instructors regarding curriculum, industry trends, resources, best practices, graduate job placement opportunities, certification importance, and any changes / additions / deletions.
  • Utilize an inventory management system to maintain inventory of equipment, tools, materials, and supplies by campus.
  • Oversee program-specific kits, tools, and materials to ensure availability and cost This includes standardization of kits, supplies and uniforms, as well as negotiating better pricing, exploring pricing from other vendors, and proposing adjustments to kits.
  • Always represent the institute and all affiliated brands in the most professional and positive light.

    Education :

  • OSHA10 / OSHA30 Train the Trainer Certification (OSH500 Certification – Construction).
  • Diploma in relevant trades related program.
  • 10 years of experience in the trades industry.
  • Prior management experience highly preferred.
  • Technology :

  • Comfortable with delivering content in various delivery methods.
  • Ability to host meetings using a web conferencing (Zoom preferred).

  • Clear and succinct communication, both verbally and in writing with a diverse community, student population, with team members, and instructors at all levels of the company.
