Performs routine landscaping maintenance. Installs seasonal landscaping. Maintains tools and equipment in working order.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Irrigation
- Monitor, inspect, maintain, and repair irrigation systems. Adjust watering schedule seasonally to optimize water conservation. Repair valve box as needed. Operates hand and mechanical tools to repair or replace lines and sprinkler heads taking care to gently remove sod for replanting. Monitor and adjust sprinkler heads to minimize overspray. Escalate issues to supervisor.
- Prepare irrigation systems for adverse weather conditions to prevent breakage. Inspect and repair after weather events.
Landscaping
- Trims hedges, limbs, and shrubbery. Regularly walks and inspects grounds trimming or removing damaged plants and maintaining grounds. Gathers and appropriately disposes of cuttings.
- Apply fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, etc. as needed using safe application techniques and appropriate personal protective equipment in accordance with any applicable laws and regulations.
- Installs seasonal landscaping, digging holes, and mulching. Hauls materials to and from garden.
- Keeps walkways clear of leaves and debris.

- Self manages workload to deliver quality work on time. Consistently applies procedures, regulations, and policies producing compliant and efficient results. Works independently; as needed requests work be peer reviewed for accuracy and improvement. Completes non-routine work applying experience and knowledge of procedures, regulations, and policies; escalates complex and unique issues for guidance. Exhibits accountability for work and behaviors.
- Takes the initiative to discuss assignments, expectations, priorities and deadlines as well as seek guidance and coaching from manager. Notifies manager when workload is light and volunteers for additional work. Adjusts effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

MINIMUM Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Licenses
- Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Experience
- At least two (2) years’ work experience installing and maintaining irrigation systems - Preferred but not required
- Experience trimming hedges and landscaping a plus

Work CONDITIONS
Work Environment
- Work outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions
- Comply with the Field dress code policy
- May support multiple parks or sites requiring local travel
Work Postures
- Frequent, continuous periods of time standing, up 6 hours per day
- Climbing stairs to access buildings frequently
Physical Demands
- Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is required
- Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 40 pounds; up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Use basic gardening hand tools such as shovels, rakes, clippers, loppers, cultivators, hoes, and similar
- Use power equipment to increase productivity
Work Hours
- Working beyond “standard” hours as the need arises
Compensation:
Salary: $18.00/hr
Benefits:
Part-time associates working an average 20 hours a week may be eligible for 401(k).
