Full-time Description
Reports to PIC for each assignment and Tax and Audit department heads overall
Major Function: Work on and direct financial statement engagements and prepare a variety of income tax returns.
Nature & Scope of Responsibilities: The supervisor will work together with tax and audit management in scheduling and servicing client needs. They will generate their own work assignments as well as be given assignments by PIC. They will oversee a group of clients as PIC. They will distribute work assignments, supervise staff and communicate with clients. All of their work will be reviewed.

Financial Statement Functions (if Applicable)
- Plan, perform and supervise audit, review and compilation fieldwork and report preparation
- Continue to develop a command of GAAP, OCBOA, unique or specialized accounting principles, and financial statement presentations
- Maintain a thorough understanding of generally accepted auditing standards and common audit procedures and techniques
- Assume responsibility for efficiently supervising both audit and nonaudit engagements
- Maintain contact with clients.
- Prepare and/or supervise preparation of individual, business, fiduciary and other tax returns prepared by the firm. Often moving toward at least one specialty area
- Develop an expertise of specialized IRC sections, regulations and interpretations while maintaining general overall knowledge
- Maintain proficiency in tax research including knowledge of the reference sources available to the firm and participate in and direct research projects
- Prepare tax projections and become knowledgeable with respect to tax planning strategies
- Handle tax audits
- Maintain contact with clients
- Know, understand, follow and enforce the firm’s policies and procedures
- Submit all work for review and assist in review of staff work
- Strive to meet chargeable hours budget
- Keep PIC informed of status of work in relation to client needs and due dates
- Recognize potential problem areas in specific engagements and discuss them with person responsible for engagement
- Keep up with professional reading to stay current on changing laws and regulations
- Attend in-office and external training programs to expand technical knowledge; prepare for and lead in-office training
- Possess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff and senior accountants
- Prepare for and pass CPA exam, if not previously done
- Assist in firm administrative functions as assigned by firm management
- Develop network of referral sources through active involvement in professional and civic organizations
- Look for opportunities to provide additional services to clients
- Develop understanding of billing procedures
- Possess creativity in evaluating client service procedures and recommend improvements in those systems
- Overall responsibility to monitor progress of engagements under their charge in relation to budgets and due dates
- Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field with 5 years of experience
- CPA or enrolled agent designation preferred, but not required
- Strong technical skills and ability to research tax issues
- Excellent communication skills and experience successfully managing client relationships
- Creative problem solving skills

Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
