SANY’s Utica Academy of Science Charter School is excited to announce the opening of a College Guidance Counselor (Grades 6-12) for the 2025-2026 Academic Year.
We are looking for a dynamic and creative College Guidance Counselor. We have a great environment for new staff members and encourage experienced staff to apply! New York State Certification is required.
We need a School Guidance Counselor who will:
- Must be skilled at working with 9-12 school grades who may have emotional, family, or scholastic difficulties.
- Have good communication skills enabling them to communicate effectively with school staff, families, and community members.
- The ability to problem-solve is critical for this position, as school counselors must resolve personal disputes on a daily basis.
- Collaborate with staff to determine charter requirements for the instructional goals, objectives, and methods
- Have excellent content knowledge and pedagogy
- Welcome the use of analytics and data to help drive instruction and promote learning
- Appreciate regular feedback, accountability, and the rewards that come with doing a great job serving our students & communities

What you need
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Counseling required; Master's degree preferred
- NYS Counseling Certification
- Experience with a diverse population of students or in an urban setting is a plus
- Prior teaching experience is preferred, and novice teachers are encouraged to apply!
- Fingerprint clearance through the NYS Department of Education
