What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gifted Math Teacher and Program Coordinator position at Science Academy of Chicago?
We are currently looking for a well-qualified Gifted Math Instructor and Program Coordinator to add to our Gifted Education team for the 2025-26 SY. The Gifted Math Teacher is responsible for providing advanced mathematical instruction to high-achieving students, fostering their critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. The teacher designs and implements an accelerated curriculum that challenges and engages gifted learners while catering to their unique educational needs.
Gifted Math Teacher for grades 2nd-8th
- Teaches engaging lessons in math that adhere to curriculum standards, CCSS
- Familiarity or previous experience utilizing curriculum
- Communicates regularly with parents
- Implements instructional activities, using educational equipment, materials, books, and other learning aids
- Plans, develops, and utilizes a variety of instructional materials and aids appropriate to the intellectual and instructional level of students
- Utilizes technology to improve student engagement and learning
- Collaborates in cross-curricular projects and with other coordinators
- Experience teaching advanced mathematics, gifted, or high-achieving students.
- Strong knowledge of advanced math concepts, problem-solving strategies, and differentiation techniques
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and student engagement skills
