Purchasing Supervisor, Req. 2191
The Purchasing Supervisor will supervise a team of Buyers and will be responsible for the timely and cost-effective processing of a wide variety of purchase requests in accordance with SES purchasing policies (POP) and Federal Acquisition Requirements (FARS).
Essential Functions :
- Directly supervises the activities of buyers and expediters ensuring purchasing department policies / procedures and individual job performance criteria are met by assigned staff members. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for assisting with annual employee performance reviews and disciplinary actions as necessary.
- As required by workload, staffing and complexity of department purchasing activities, the incumbent may function as a senior level individual contributor completing the most complex and difficult purchasing assignments.
- Responsible for assessing the training needs of assigned purchasing staff and providing appropriate types of structured assignments and coaching. These training activities range from the initial training of new employees with limited purchasing experience to significantly more advanced technical training in SES purchasing policies, procedures and methodology including specialized acquisition activities involving a high degree of technical complexity and specialized documentation in support of the FAR / DFARS.
- This position reports to the Purchasing Manager and directly participates in projects and initiatives as a member of Purchasing Department management team and may be assigned as a department representative to companywide projects. The incumbent also maintains productivity records for inclusion in department wide productivity reporting.
Education : ? BS / BA degree in business, finance, accounting, management, engineering or operations management; MBA or MS preferred Experience : ? 5 to 10 years purchasing or related supply chain / business administrative experience required; 5 years of progressively responsible purchasing experience within military or aerospace environment preferred.? Good communication and coaching skills
