What are the responsibilities and job description for the Science Summer Camp Instructor position at Science Explorers?
Join our team as a Summer Science Camp Instructor and inspire the next generation of scientists! We are seeking passionate and energetic individuals to lead hands-on experiments and activities for children ages 4-12. As an instructor, you will have the opportunity to foster curiosity and creativity in a fun and learning environment. Our one-week stand-one camps usually run Monday through Friday. 4-day camps will only run until Thursday. Full and half day camps vary by location and topic. Materials, curriculum, and training are provided. Two instructors are scheduled per week for each location. Reliable transportation is required. Additional Time will be required for prep and cleaning up at the beginning and end of the days. Typically, on Monday instructors arrive an hour early. The rest of the week is 30 minutes early at least, with some time at the end of each day for cleanup and straightening for the next day.
Science Explorers will be running 2 camp locations in the Phoenixville / Methacton Area
Monday - Friday, at Phoenixville Recreation - 1 person for both weeks.
- August 4th through the 8th from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (ages 7-11) 1 person
- August 11th through the 14th from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (ages 7-11) 1 person
Monday - Friday at Methacton (Eagleville) - 1 person needed
-July 21st through the 25th from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (ages 4-6) Juniors Camp 1 person

We also have openings in the following areas: Philadelphia, Havertown, Doylestown, Plymouth Meeting, Ambler, Pottstown, Phoenixville, Reading, West Chester, Downingtown, Chadds Ford, Northern Delaware, Hershey, and Mechanicsburg.
We provide all materials, curriculum, and paid training!
You don’t have to be a science teacher to instruct our clubs, you do need to have previous experience teaching or working with groups of children. Reliable transportation is required. There will be additional time necessary for prep and cleaning up at the beginning and end of the day, typically an hour before camp on Monday, 1/2 hour the rest of the week and time after camp to clean and prep for the next day. We pay per camp week and offer Direct Deposit. You must have or be willing to obtain current required background checks and provide copies to us prior to the start of camp. - This is a 1099 position
- COMMITMENT IS ESSENTIAL! Once the schedule is set and materials are sent, it is of the UTMOST importance that you stick to the schedule for the full week of camp.
- There is an opportunity to work more than 1 week of camp
- Some teaching/instructing/tutoring experience is preferred.
- Our camps are offered from mid-June to mid-August
- Up-to-date clearances are required (background checks, CPR, child abuse certificate, etc.)
- In-person or zoom training will be scheduled and an invite will be sent.
- Reliable transportation is required. Must be able to get there before the children and stay until all children are picked up each day.
