What are the responsibilities and job description for the Museum Education Manager position at Science History Institute?
The Science History Institute is seeking a full-time Museum Education Manager to oversee the development and implementation of the museum’s educational offerings, including group tours and school partnerships. The Museum Education Manager directs daily museum operations, manages staff, schedules coverage for the gallery, and delivers a wide range of programs to diverse audiences. The Museum Education Manager will manage budgets, evaluate existing programs, and build new community partnerships. This position requires attendance in person five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum five years of work experience in a museum or cultural heritage institution, with a minimum of three years in a leadership position within an educational program
- Master’s degree in education or related field is preferred
- Demonstrated record of success in program development, from concept phase to implementation
- Experience developing evaluative tools and methods
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to share complicated topics with public audiences
- Proven ability to manage and mentor team members
- Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Ability to work both independently at times and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong project-management skills, including the ability to successfully manage multiple simultaneous projects while maintaining strong attention to detail
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of staff

The starting annual salary for this position is $60,000. Salary offer may be higher based on candidate’s experience.
