What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Team Assistant Manager position at Science Museum of Minnesota?
The Design Team Assistant Manager position supports the Design Team Program Manager with daily responsibilities to help ensure an innovative and safe environment for students and staff. The Design Team Assistant Manager works directly on site with students and staff and at times will lead activities for students or staff. The Design Team Assistant Manager is involved in hiring, training, disciplinary action (when needed), and other areas supporting the Program Manager. Assistant Managers are great leaders, problem solvers, and effective communicators.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provide site management by leading, guiding, and supporting staff and students in day to day after school and summer programming at partnering sites.
- Ensure documentation of projects through logging regular project updates, participating in regular check-in meetings communicating with internal and external partners.
- Identify strategies for dissemination of project results for internal and external audiences (create and maintain ongoing calendars, presentations, write-ups, etc).
- Prepare quarterly / annually reports, demographic data and completing reports as necessary.
- Document partnership activities for project and proposal development.
- Use creative strategies to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and engagement with participant parents / families and community partners.
- Respect and maintain confidentiality regarding knowledge of participants.
- Assists with budgets and KAYSC staff time for projects as needed.
- Help develop strategic directives to support the KAYSC’s all around mission and vision.
- Assist with hiring and training a network of individuals that provide STEM / Justice programming to effectively meet the needs of the community.
- Design and facilitate meetings with youth and KAYSC stakeholders associated with project work plans.
- Manage logistics for programming - gather materials, reserve programming space, help create curriculum / lesson plans, etc.
- Manage attendance, communicate with parents / families and payroll lists, as needed.
- Encourage community members to share their knowledge and talents with program participants.
- Identify areas for engaging the perspective of KAYSC youth participants on project.
- Coordinate with co-workers, educators, parents and community partners to support participants’ long-term involvement and success in the KAYSC.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

STARTING COMPENSATION : $49,079 - $51,004 / year (depending on qualifications; compensation grade 7)
