Overview:
A skilled and experience dog handler to provide training and care to working dogs and expertise on odor detection and scent diffusion. Will be responsible for observing and assessing behavioral patterns in dogs, exercising dogs, and using dog-training techniques to ensure dogs’ readiness for research and development programs and participation in operations.
- Advise on scent detection and develop/implement customized training programs for working dogs
- Assist in providing input into mission tasks for canine’s participating in training exercises or technology demonstrations
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and adjust them as needed
- Ensure to the feeding, grooming, health and fitness of working dogs
- Development and maintain mission essential tasks list for operational preparedness for working dogs
- Maintain accurate records of training, medical needs, behavioral issues, personalized training programs, and progress
Job Requirements
Education:
- High School diploma or GED (an associate degree in science a plus)
Job Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain DoD Secret Clearance
- 5 years’ experience in both applied odor detection and the basic/fundamental aspects of odor and scent diffusion and movement
- At least 10 years of canine training experience, specializing in scent detection work
Bonus points if you have:
- Military dog handling experience
- Ability to procure, store and transport explosives

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
