Job Description/Service Technician Responsibilities
We have an exciting opportunity available for a Service Technician. The technician oversees inbound customer instrumentation in need of repair. The technician checks in each product and updates progress of the diagnosis/repair from start to finish. The technician diagnoses and repairs each product using manufacturer specific manuals and diagrams. The technician will at times be required to perform phone or online support for both manufacturers and customers. Manufacturers may reach out at times for feedback to improve existing products.
- Create, monitor, and document work orders within custom software.
- Partner with manufacturers to identify problems, assess issues, document findings, and make decisions to repair the product.
- Make effective repairs to equipment in accordance with documented procedures.
- Provide technical support to subcontracted repair technicians.
- Provide additional technical assistance to customers for all contract manufacturers.
- Manage inventory usage and ensure corrections are made within a specified time frame.
- Perform all duties in accordance with applicable safety guidelines as well as appropriate standard processes.
- Must have a driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Desired Characteristics
- Associates degree with a technical major or equivalent, or related job experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of lab equipment and repair processes for all types of benchtop lab equipment.
Required Skills
- Able to handle multiple projects and priorities, work well independently or in team environment.
- Able to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Ability to use electronic test instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Use hand tools.
- Some electronic and mechanical knowledge preferred.
- Familiar with wiring diagrams.
- Work independently with minimum Supervision.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Exceptional work organization and time management
- Must be computer literate, proficient in Microsoft office, email, and can learn to work within custom database and software applications, to perform routine job duties.
