What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist position at Scientific Laboratories?
Position Summary
- Responsible for accurately obtaining blood samples via venipuncture with minimal patient discomfort.
- Responsible for processing urine samples collected from the treatment center.
- Responsible for receiving orders from the treatment center and inputting demographic, insurance and order information into the laboratory information system.
- Responsible for preparing specimens for same-day shipment to the laboratory in Florida.
- Responsible for acting as a liaison between the client and the laboratory staff.
- Responsible for organizing and requesting supplies as needed.
Schedule
- Two - Three Days Per Week, Monday and Thursdays are preferred but can be flexible. Mornings or afternoons.
- Note, Blood draws are preferred to be fasting so morning hours are required. Some days there might only be a couple blood draws and then your work would be done.
Compensation
- $20 Per Hour. This is a great opportunity for a high paying part-time morning job if you are a student, parent or working another job.
Certification:
- Certified by the American Society of Phlebotomy Technician
- Paramedic with IV or Blood Draw Experience
Experience:
- Minimum – training or experience in specimen collection and/or processing.
- Preferred – two years of laboratory training or experience in specimen collection and processing, including with patients who have difficult access to due prior intravenous drug use.
- Preferred- Experienced Phlebotomist or Paramedic
Skills: Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the laboratory and with laboratory customers. Ability to read and write and basic computer skills.
