JOB SUMMARY
Join our team at Scientific Protein Laboratories (SPL), a world leader in biosourced pharmaceuticals, located just outside of Madison, Wisconsin in Waunakee! SPL is an innovative biopharmaceutical leader with unique products and services supporting the pharmaceutical industry globally. For over 40 years, SPL specializes in the development and cGMP compliant manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). SPL has an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Molecular Technologies Scientist.
This position is responsible for working independently or with minimal guidance to develop and validate complex laboratory molecular biology techniques to detect viruses in active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) following strict written procedures to meet compendial and custom specifications. This work is performed under cGMP/FDA guidelines. Initiates and executes independent analytical and systems improvement projects. With minimal assistance, writes documentation to support infectious agent risk mitigation strategies for current and new APIs. This position is a technical leadership role with responsibility for overseeing daily activities of analytical activities related to molecular technologies.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in molecular biology, virology, or related discipline required. Doctorate degree or other advanced degree in molecular biology, virology, or related discipline, preferred.
- Experience: 5 plus years required, 10 plus years preferred. Proficient in molecular biology techniques like nucleic acid extraction and qPCR and in using bioinformatics tools. Experience with library preparation methods and next-generation sequencing platforms is highly desirable.
