Field Service Engineer - Chicago

Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of assigned work orders, including preparing by reviewing the problem with the customer, scheduling appointments, ordering necessary parts, and ensuring the work order is completed and closed with customer communication.
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct customer training on the safe and effective operation of the equipment, ensuring their success.
- Record and report maintenance and repair activities, capturing detailed information about the instruments and customers via the company’s service system.
- Manage and maintain personal inventory of service parts, ensuring accuracy in record-keeping and physical organization.
- Represent the company professionally to create a positive impression and experience for customers.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers.
- Promote products and services, leveraging product knowledge to suggest solutions and provide feedback to the sales and marketing teams.
- Assist the technical support team as needed.
- Submit expense reports accurately and on time.
- Coordinate travel and work schedule to align with team objectives.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair equipment logically and effectively.

- High-level understanding of instrumentation and its applications, with a willingness to learn new systems.

- Associate's degree or relevant experience preferred.
- 1 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer or similar role.
- Experience with ERP or CRM systems is a plus.
Travel Requirements
- Approximately 60% travel, with a mix of local travel and flights, and 2-3 overnight stays per week.
- Occasional travel for service meetings, training seminars, and potential international trips for training or collaboration with global colleagues.
- Initial onboarding will involve more frequent travel for training, which will decrease to once per quarter after completion.
