The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the organization's financial operations, ensuring the integrity of financial data, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of nonprofit accounting practices, financial reporting, and internal controls, while helping the organization fulfill its mission.
Responsibilities:
This position offers an annual salary between $70,000-$80,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; short- and long-term disability; FSA and HSA options; and generous paid time off (PTO).

Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP)
- General Ledger Maintenance: Oversee and maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, month end close, and ensuring proper coding of transactions.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, monitoring actual expenses and revenue against budgeted amounts, and providing variance analysis to management.
- Grant & Fund Management: Manage accounting for restricted funds, grants, and donations, ensuring compliance with donor and grantor requirements. Prepare financial reports for grants and assist with audits related to grant funding.
- Audit & Compliance: Lead preparation for the annual audit and ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial regulations impacting nonprofits.
- Internal Controls: Ensure the effectiveness of internal controls and procedures, working to identify and mitigate potential financial risks and inefficiencies.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the VP of Finance, program managers, and other departments to ensure accurate financial planning, budgeting, and reporting.
- Tax Filings & Compliance: Work with outside accountants to ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns, including Form 990, state filings, and other required nonprofit reports.
- Financial Analysis: Ability to generate reports from the accounting system.
- Bachelors degree in accounting or related field.
- Previous accounting experience in a nonprofit setting.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles (GAAP), regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Fund EZ, Sage Intacct, or similar) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to present complex financial information clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team, managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
