Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct the Search for a Policy Director (Housing Lobbyist) on behalf of our client, an organization that represents property owners and managers dedicated to providing affordable multifamily housing in New York State. This is a direct-hire position inAlbany, NY. Other locations in New York State considered with required travel to Albany during Legislative sessions.

We are seeking a Policy Director to lead legislative and policy advocacy in New York State. The role will focus on working with lawmakers, agencies, and housing stakeholders to advance policies promoting housing affordability, tenant protections, and responsible property management. The ideal candidate will have strong relationships in Albany and a deep understanding of housing policy and legislative processes.
Responsibilities:
This position offers an annual salary of $150,000-$200,000 in addition to the full benefits package.

Responsibilities:
- Advocate for housing policies by engaging with legislators, government officials, and agencies.
- Track legislative and regulatory developments affecting housing.
- Draft policy proposals, position papers, and testimonies.
- Build and maintain relationships with lawmakers, stakeholders, and industry groups.
- Collaborate with property owners, tenants, and experts to develop housing solutions.
- Represent the organization in legislative hearings and public forums.
- Help shape public discourse on housing affordability.
- Develop materials to educate and inform key stakeholders.
- Speak at events and media engagements to promote the organizations mission.
- Established relationships within the New York State Legislature and executive agencies.
- 5-7 years of experience in government relations, policy advocacy, or lobbying, particularly in housing or real estate.
- Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes in New York.
- Excellent communication skills, including writing policy briefs and testimony.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Background urban planning, rent regulation, and housing legislation in New York preferred.
This position offers an annual salary of $150,000-$200,000 in addition to the full benefits package.
