Title: Dining Server
Main Responsibility: The primary purpose of a server is to create and control the Scioto Experience for members in contact with Food & Beverage. The server must take ownership of the members in the restaurant and deliver an exceptional dining experience while working together with the rest of the team. We ask for a positive attitude, strong work ethic and dependability/punctuality.
Responsibilities, Essential Duties and Expectations:
- Assist members and guests with their every need
- Maintain the presentation of the dining areas
- Attend pre-service meetings and communicate questions, comments and concerns to other staff members to improve the service and experience of the membership
- Communicate all specials and events to the membership
- Ensure members and guests enjoy the Scioto Experience
- Maximize sales within the dining areas using up selling techniques
- Accurately complete opening and closing shift side work and weekly cleaning
- Accurately take orders in a timely manner
- Ensure all orders are effectively communicated to the kitchen
- Ensure all food products served are department standard and correct
- Ensure any members’ concerns are addressed immediately and satisfactory
- Accurately complete all transactions and closing paperwork
- Participate in ongoing training
- Stay current on menu knowledge and changes
- Assist other servers during dining
- Ensure storage areas are neat and organized
- Assist server assistants and other team members with their shift responsibilities when need
- Report adverse situations to management
- Coordinate with management throughout the shift
Education and/or Experience:
- High school degree completed or in pursuit
- College degree ambition preferred
- Prior restaurant or hospitality experience is preferred
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations:
- Greet and acknowledge members and guests.
- Is knowledgeable about the menu, buffet and wine list.
- Ability to time the service of each course.
- Learns members’ names and their special preferences.
- Knowledge of wines and spirits.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
Physical Requirements, Working Conditions and Other factors:
- Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by club environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and outdoors ( 110°F), possibly for one hour or more.
- Position requires walking and standing for long periods of time. The length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch occasionally.
- Must maintain proper hygiene, following the standard and cleanliness of appearance and uniform.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must follow the standards, guidelines, rules of the employee handbook.
- Must be able to be off your cellular telephone during your shift.
