We are a growing technology company with a 25 year track record headquartered in Chattanooga. We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team, overseeing general accounting operations by controlling and verifying all our financial transactions. The Accountant responsibilities include billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations of account balances, vendor bills, bank statements, maintaining general ledger and assisting in month-end financial preparation and reporting. The successful candidate combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze and make recommendations for improving underlying operational processes. The ideal candidate has experience collaborating with operations/management staff and ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting operational tasks.

Responsibilities
- Accurate and timely accounts payable processing
- Accurate and timely accounts receivable management and collections
- Produce error-free accounting reports through spreadsheet creation/ maintenance
- Assist in preparation and processing of monthly billing to customers
- Provide technical support and advice to Accounting Specialist I and Admin Assistant
- Assist with internal account audits and tax returns
- Support month-end and year-end close process for financial reporting
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
- Liaise with our CFO and CEO to improve financial procedures and operations coordination
- Proven experience as a junior accountant or accounting specialist
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong familiarity with financial accounting statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Heavy hands-on experience with Quick Books
- Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently, prioritize required activities and get things done
- Proven ability to quickly learn additional billing and operations systems
- Excellent organizational skills and superior attention to detail
- Ability to multitask while adapting to changing priorities
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
- Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be highly preferred
