What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Safety Ambassador position at Scissortail Park Foundation?
Scissortail Park’s Safety Ambassadors work as a team to ensure guest and employee safety, report hazards and incidents, and provide customer service at its 70-acre site in downtown Oklahoma City. Park Safety Ambassadors report up through the Director of Safety and have varied schedules, mostly on nights and weekends and during large events. Shifts may also include some holidays. This role is a full-time position consisting of 40 hours per week and is eligible for overtime when applicable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Performs walking and driving rounds of Scissortail Park multiple times throughout the day, looking for any issues that may impact the safety or health of guests and staff, reporting those issues as needed
· Respond to incidents, ensuring they are properly documented and that the appropriate staff and/or agencies are contacted
· Maintains steady communication via phone, radio, email, or other software to respond to emergencies, instructions, questions, visitor inquiries, and staff assistance/requests
· Relays park rules and guidelines to visitors, communicating in a courteous manner
· Maintains an approachable demeanor and open communication with staff and guests
· Interacts with unhoused persons and provides outreach services and resources as needed
· Administers basic first aid, CPR, AED and/or stop-the-bleed services to visitors who require emergency medical attention. If candidate is not already certified, Scissortail Park will provide this training at no cost.
· Calls 911 for incidents requiring police, fire, ambulance or other emergency services
· Assists with boating and lake operations, including retrieving stranded boaters
· Occasionally loads and unloads materials, equipment and supplies
· Performs vehicle escorts, load in/load out and safety supervision for vendors on park property
Preferred Experience and Skills
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Ability to create reports via computer software
· Ability to drive a golf cart and/or ride a bicycle for park patrols
· Prefer Experience in Security or safety role
Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors. Some locations visited during the course of executing job duties may not be wheelchair accessible. Must be available nights and/or weekends during busy event seasons.
