What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sailing Advisor-(SY24-25) position at Scituate Public School District?
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Scitaute Public Schools is seekng a dedicated and skilled Unified Track Head Coach.
ESSENTIAL DUITES & RESPONSIBILITES:
- Plan and schedule practices and races
- Instructs and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement
- Teach and improve student athletes the fundamentals and principles of Sailing
- Develops appropriate training programs and practice schedules
- Ensures the proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all Track/athletic equipment and uniforms
- Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of individual athletes and opposing teams
- Plan strategies/game plans for each race
- Provides direction, encouragement, and motivation to prepare athletes for races
- Plan and direct physical conditioning programs that enable athletes to achieve maximum performance
- Instruct athletes on proper techniques, game strategies, sportsmanship, and the rules of Sailing
- Acts as a liaison in relating the Sailing program information to the athletics staff, parents and students
- Ensure that medical and safety requirements are adhered to
- Assigns duties to assistant coaches under his/her supervision; including pre-season and practice sessions
- Attends all practices and games and is punctual
- Attends all training and staff meetings, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPR certified or willingness to obtain certification prior to starting position
- Previous coaching experience and participation in a college or high school sports program
