We are partnering with our client that is a supplier of aluminum extruded component parts serving the appliance, office furniture, consumer durable, and automotive product markets
Position Highlight:
- Full Time Direct Hire onsite role based in Portage, MI
- Title: Controls Engineer
Background Requirements:
- Professional Certification, College Degree, or Industrial Trade Service Card
- Experience with Rockwell Automation, Studio 5000, RS Logics 5000, RS Logics 500 Factory Talk preferred.
- Looking for 7 years of experience as a Controls Engineer
- Able to work in local seasonal environment (Summer >100F and Winter <30F)
- Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for >4 hours at a time
- Able to identify problems, configure and/or replace faulty components, and recover complicated automated equipment.
- Able to support in a 24-hour operation condition, primary shift day shift 6am-3pm
- Knowledge of robotics, industrial equipment (Fanuc, ABB, Siemens controls a plus but not required)
Responsibilities/Job Duties:
Industrial Manufacturing Work Environment
- Work within manufacturing facility supporting Production, Maintenance, and Engineering on improvements, new projects, equipment recovery, and specific controls and manufacturing engineering tasks as required.
- Follow and assist in teaching, coaching and development of associates for industrial safety requirements and best practices. (Lock Out / Tag Out, Arc Flash, Hazardous Materials, Confined Space, Robotic Safety, Industrial Trouble Shooting)
- Service instrumentation and controls equipment providing necessary calibration, set up conditions, upgrades, and best technology
- Support Maintenance in controls and robotics issues.
- Support Maintenance on any urgent (emergency) condition to recovery equipment
- Detail Root Cause conditions to drive permanent improvements and suggest changes to reduce occurrence or loss time.
- Examine work and set detail plan for options and best methods to perform work.
- Able to upload and save machine programs in our system and routinely set organization of files, checks, and audit our backup condition.
- Communicate verbal, written, & instructional on recovery, new instructions, special temporary conditions, or unique conditions to avoid for process operation.
- Lead and assist in identifying preventive maintenance plan requirements or improvements. Assist in leading to reliability manufacturing techniques and drive technology that allows for associates to manage without complicated systems. (Mean Time to Failure, Mean Time to Recover)
- Identify cost savings opportunities in components, equipment, upgrades, and power consumption (utility savings)
- Write equipment specifications for future programs and assist engineers with quotations, options, and sources.
