The Family Development Coach responsibilities:
- Work with the participants/family on achieving the goals indicated in the ISP.
- Provide social service supports, material supports, housing assistance, employment assistance, education assistance, financial empowerment services to participants/family.
- Provide child support assistance and legal services to participants/family.
- Document each meeting with participant/family with written progress notes and enter into the Participant Tracking System (PTS), DYCD’s online database system.
- Provide progress notes that would present an assessment of the needs and strengths of the participant and a plan for meeting the specific goals in the ISP.
- Assist fathers in understanding how to access administrative and court documents and related documents and forms.
- Provide supportive materials, such as letters to the court or another entity on a father’s participation and/or progress and certificate of good conduct, when applicable.
- Enter ISP and all necessary information in DCYD PTS system.
- Assist fathers navigate situations where they may face biases and discrimination.
- Connect fathers with DOC affiliated transitional services to aid in reducing recidivism rates.
- Provided a one-on-one introduction during which the father is taught how to access the modules, completes the pre-test and is informed of how to get assistance if needed.
- Work along with DOC to bring in presenters that can offer opportunities and insights into building social capital and networks upon release.
- HS or equivalent, AA, BS preferred.
- Previous direct service work with men and families.
- Previous experience with outreach, establishing partnerships, event coordination preferred.
- Self-initiated, motivated and well-organized.
- Possess a social justice perspective and ability to collaborate with culturally and socioeconomically diverse groups.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Spanish speaking applicants are encouraged.
- Facility with data systems and Microsoft Office tools preferred.
- Flexibility to work evenings and Saturdays.
