Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our team. This person will complete various accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, sales transactions, and general ledger entries. The ideal candidate must have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excel spreadsheets, and proficiency in financial software, particularly QuickBooks. The Accounting Assistant will need to possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
Duties
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring timely payments and accurate record-keeping.
- Perform data entry for financial transactions using QuickBooks accounting software.
- Daily monitor and process customer building sales.
- Verify delivered customer orders and follow up immediately, with the customer, for final payment.
- Audit building sales invoices for accuracy and completeness and process weekly commission payments through the Gusto payroll system.
- Check Card Point website daily for any customer payment chargebacks and contact customer for an updated payment method.
- Conduct reconciliations of bank statements, credit cards, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Responsible for timely and professional correspondence with other employees, sales people and customers through phone calls, texts, and emails.
- Maintain organized records of all financial documents, including invoices, receipts, and contracts.
- Ensure all sales tax permits are current and complete renewals when needed.
- Prepare and submit year end 1099s and W2 forms.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial statements and reports in compliance with GAAP.
- Ad hoc duties as needed.
Skills
- Strong understanding of accounting principles including debits and credits.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks.
- Excellent mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills to collaborate with team members across departments, sales lots, and customers.
- Ability to work independently while also being a valuable team player.
- Possess a positive and proactive attitude.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to meeting deadlines

Education and Experience:
- Associates Degree or greater is a plus but not required
- Prior experience in an accounting role is beneficial, but not required
