Position Summary:

This position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units, with a strong focus on driving employee engagement. The role oversees and directs HR responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and practices, social and ethical business standards, and relevant laws, regulations, and administrative rulings. A key aspect of this position is fostering a culture of engagement by designing, implementing, and evaluating proactive workplace policies and practices that attract, retain, and motivate talent. Additionally, this position is responsible for managing the collective bargaining unit and agreement, including negotiations and dispute resolutions, while maintaining positive relationships with local unions and ensuring compliance with labor laws

Major Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Plant Management to drive achievement of goals, budgets, and plans, providing essential support, advice, and guidance to leadership and employees.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives that support plant goals and employee engagement.
  • Manage labor relations, including maintaining positive relationships with local unions, overseeing collective bargaining agreements, and handling grievance responses.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for both hourly and salaried positions, ensuring a skilled and diverse workforce.
  • Implement and enforce HR policies and procedures to improve overall operations, compliance, and business effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws, including OSHA standards, food safety guidelines, and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • Oversee employee benefits, compensation, and performance management programs.
  • Coordinate and deliver training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge in company policies.
  • Analyze labor data and key HR metrics to make informed recommendations and support business objectives.
  • Oversee timekeeping and payroll processing preparation to ensure accurate and timely payment of wages, benefits, and deductions, while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Manage an HR generalist, providing guidance and support in their daily activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of HR experience, preferably in food manufacturing or a unionized environment.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining processes, and union practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Demonstrated experience in change management and conflict resolution.
  • Proficiency in HR software and data analysis tools


The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $110,000 to $135,000 based on years of experience, position responsibilities and geographic location.

Salary : $110,000 - $135,000
