Pet Waste Removal Tech for Scoop Soldiers of Florida (30-40 hours weekly)

SCOOP SOLDIERS OF FLORIDA is currently filling a full-time position on established routes. We are a service that provides weekly dog poop scooping to residential clients. The weekly routes normally run during the daylight hours of Monday through Friday. An occasional Saturday may be required. You will be driving one of our company trucks. Historically the best fit for the routes are people that do not mind working alone, love dogs, are honest and communicative, and are comfortable working in rain or shine as well as hot or cold. When it comes to dogs, we do not use the word aggressive, we use the word protective instead. We're strangers coming into their territory with a big stick, so we are always cautious and paying attention to our surroundings (we do not wear sunglasses or headphones in the yards). If a dog is out, we will work around them, play with them and show them some love! However, if there are any protective dogs, they will be required to be inside or we will not enter the yard. You and the dogs' safety is of the utmost important to us.

Responsibilities and Duties:

You will go into our clients’ yards, scoop up all the dog poop walking a grid-like pattern, double check the yard on the way out (including any high-value target areas), secure their gates back up after the service is completed, take photos of their secured gates, send the clients an email with the gate photo(s) attached, and then you'll haul the poop away. You can even play with the dog(s) if you’d like! We work hard driving safely from yard to yard until all of our scheduled clients have received their service for the day. We want to be as efficient as possible; this is a fast-paced job so efficiency and communication is key.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US:

  • We say what we do, and do what we say.
  • We start at $16.00/ hour PLUS tips, paid weekly on Fridays.
  • 5 days paid vacation accrued in your first year. 10 days accrued in your second year. 10 days 3 paid holidays in your third year; Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
  • 90 days after being hired on, supplemental insurance from Aflac is available; the company contributes up to $50/month. Available options include accident coverage, life insurance, cancer coverage and more.
  • You start and end at your home every day in our logoed company truck. No money spent on personal gas or tolls to get to work.
  • An established route; support when needed.
  • Great exercise as there is a lot of walking involved.
  • Company provided smart phone with unlimited data usage.
  • A growing company with many opportunities for advancement. We evaluate your performance 3 times throughout your first year of employment. (After 90 days, 6 months, and at your 1 year anniversary.)
  • A job where you get to make friends with tons of dogs! (Protective dogs will be required to be inside; your safety (and theirs) is very important to us.)
  • Hands-on managers that provide daily support (Their motto: Is it good for the company and fair to the employee?)

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS - A FEW THINGS THAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Dog lovers with the capability to recognize dog behavior (specifically in recognizing if a dog is being protective and if it will bite or if it's just nervous/shy - a barking dog does not mean it is protective).
  • A clear criminal background.
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver's License.
  • Very clean driving record; we drive a LOT. Our trucks are monitored via satellite GPS tracking. We do not tolerate speeding, reckless driving and/or road rage of any kind.
  • Must be honest, reliable and responsible. You must be an early riser, we start at 7AM most of the year. We expect you to show up to work and to be on time.
  • Professionalism and excellent communication skills (verbal and written). You will call or text most of our clients ahead of service, communicate any/all issues with management via phone calls and utilize the Gmail app daily. We also take plenty of notes in the app that we use to better help the next technician to service the yard; we try to be thorough!
  • Be able to physically and safely work in all types of backyard terrain. We scoop in grass, rocks, flower beds, patios. We scoop everywhere including under trampolines, playgrounds, soccer fields, etc. We do a LOT of walking so you must be physically capable of doing so.
  • Be efficient. We scoop roughly 20-25 yards a day, sometimes more, and we aim to get it done in a timely manner without cutting corners in the yards.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Large dogs poop a LOT!
  • Be able to work in all weather (rain or shine as well as heat or cold). This is one of the worst parts of the job. We work as long as it is safe!
  • Detail-oriented and perceptive. We must locate and remove all the dog poop from the property because we never leave a pile behind!
  • Team player. Although you are working alone after you've completed our 2-3 day minimum training course, somedays we will need all hands on deck to scoop additional yards when a teammate needs help. The jobs must be completed to keep our clients happy as they are our ultimate bosses after all.
  • Strong work ethic.

If you would like to work outdoors as well as meet some wonderful clients and some incredible dogs, then this is the job for you!

Here's what some of our Employees say is their favorite thing about working for us:

"Favorite would have to be everyone here, we motivate each other, everyone has great energy and isn't afraid to help anyone out that needs help."

"The awesome people I work with here, a truck that I can take home, and of course spending time with dogs."

"The dogs, the open environment, the fact that it's never the same spot everyday. Being outside. My bosses. Yea this job is definitely the best I’ve ever worked."

"Great place to work if you are a team player, love dogs, work hard, and you have no trouble communicating and being honest. These guys have looked after me since day one. No matter the issue, big or small, as long as I come to them and I'm honest, they've worked with me. You put in the work, they will recognize it and will make plans for you to move up in the company. Heck, they've created new positions for people just to fit their skillset, I've seen it. You may not always notice it, but trust me, they do. This is a great company, you just gotta show up, put in the work, and they'll do their best to take care of you from there. Love this company, love the managers and I love my job."
