Position Summary
As a Senior Strategic Buyer, you will play a vital role in developing and executing procurement strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and components for our client’s mission-critical projects. You will collaborate closely with vendors such as ABB, Johnson Controls, and other leading suppliers in the electronic and industrial systems arena. This position requires a high level of technical acumen, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The role may require up to 50 hours of work per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing & Procurement:
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for electronic systems (e.g., security, HVAC, fire alarms, CCTV).
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors, ensuring favorable agreements that align with project timelines and budgets.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with key vendors to guarantee a reliable supply chain.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement plans as needed to meet quality and delivery requirements.
- Inventory & Material Management:
- Coordinate with project managers and site teams to forecast material needs and optimize inventory levels.
- Oversee the timely delivery of materials to ensure seamless project execution and minimal downtime.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineering, project management, and operations teams to align procurement strategies with project demands.
- Provide input on design considerations, product specifications, and value-engineering opportunities.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with market trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in procurement and supply chain management.
- Identify areas for process optimization and implement changes to improve overall procurement efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of procurement or strategic sourcing experience, ideally in a construction, industrial, or electronics environment.
- Technical Acumen:
- Familiarity with electronic systems, including security, HVAC, fire alarm, and CCTV systems.
- Experience working with well-known vendors (e.g., ABB, Johnson Controls, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; proven track record of building and maintaining vendor relationships.
- High energy, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and procurement software tools.
- Work Environment & Expectations:
- Willingness to work up to 50 hours per week to meet project demands.
- Travel may be required to vendor sites or project locations within the region.
