We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Coder to join our Critical Access Hospital healthcare team. Duties
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
- Review and analyze patient records to ensure proper documentation and compliance with coding guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in medical records or coding.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding standards, and regulations.
- Assist in the management of medical collections by ensuring timely submission of claims and follow-up on outstanding accounts.
- Ensure that all coding practices adhere to legal requirements and ethical standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities related to medical coding.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical coding, including familiarity with DRG, ICD-9, and ICD-10 systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and its application in coding practices.
- Experience with medical billing processes and managing medical records effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems is preferred.
- Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is a plus but not required.
