An employee in this class performs professional work in researching, identifying, preparing, submitting and administering grants on behalf of department heads, local officials, and community leaders to secure funding for the county.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Performs identification/research, development, and submission of grant proposals in conjunction with County Manager, Department Heads, and Board of Commissioners. Develops and maintains relationships with federal, state, regional and non-profit agencies related to grant funding. Represents the County with funders and outside agencies. Develops and closely monitors schedules related to grant administration and ensures project reporting is timely. Establishes methods and/or ensures proper collection of data for grant reporting. Prepares regular written updates for County Manager, Department Heads, and Board of Commissioners. Performs compliance monitoring for programmatic and financial requirements of grants in coordination with Department Heads. Make recommendations for improvement and/or corrective actions and report findings to the County Manager. Follow-up to ensure corrective actions were completed.Assists Department Heads as needed with preparation and submission of monitoring reports to grantors. Reviews all reports before submission.Prepares department budget reports at the beginning of each fiscal year including approved budget total, approved capital and personnel requests, and denied capital and personnel requests.Reviews departmental budgets throughout the fiscal year for over/under spending, coding accuracy, and responsible spending. Provides quarterly reports to Department Heads of budget performance. Alerts the County Manager and Finance Officer of concerns.Assesses departmental compliance with county policies, internal controls, procedures, legislation, and directives. Alerts the County Manager and Finance Officer of concerns and violations.Performs other duties as assigned.

Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to move objects.Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, to perform accounting and budget tasks, and to operate a computer terminal and other office equipment. Criminal Records check, drug screen, and references will be required for the successful candidate.
