Job Title: Personal Care Assistant I (Temporary)
The role of the Personal Care Assistant I involves working closely with one or more identified handicapped learners on a regular basis to provide them with the physical help and emotional support they need to gain maximum benefit from regular and/or special education programs.

The role of the Personal Care Assistant I involves working closely with one or more identified handicapped learners on a regular basis to provide them with the physical help and emotional support they need to gain maximum benefit from regular and/or special education programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists students in physical tasks such as putting on and taking off outerwear, moving from room to room, using the lavatory, and so on.
- Hears students in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks, guiding and helping them but not teaching them.
- Performs simple errands and tasks for students such as sharpening pencils, carrying lunch trays and the like.
- Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher under supervision.
- Establishes a supportive and sympathetic relationship with students without fostering or encouraging intense emotional involvement.
- Serves as a resource person to the student personnel evaluation team conferring about one of the assigned students.
- Provides medically-related services for exceptional students as assigned or delegated by a nurse, physician, or therapist for which training has been provided.
- Assists students in areas of hygiene and nutrition, including toileting, bathing and feeding based upon the individual program.
- Notifies teachers and parents when medication administered at school is no longer in supply or when medication effects change.
- Provides assistance in emergency situations to any student who is health impaired, wheelchair bound, or seizure disordered.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate
- Preferred: 48 Semester Hours or Associate's Degree
