Position Summary:
The Business Intelligence (BI)/Data Analyst is a critical role within Scotsman Guide, responsible for managing and analyzing data to support informed decision-making and enhance operational efficiency. This position involves handling all aspects of data activities, including data extraction, transformation, and visualization, as well as assisting the Engineering Manager with a variety of technical and strategic initiatives. These include research, process automation, web/application support, QA testing, and other engineering-related tasks.
The BI/Data Analyst works closely with the engineering and cross-functional teams to identify business challenges, develop data-driven insights, and implement technological solutions that align with Scotsman Guide's strategic goals. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage analytics reports and dashboards using Power BI and Google Analytics.
- Oversee data processing activities such as data collection, quality control, retention, storage, and security.
- Write user requirement and technical design documents for data analytics projects.
- Manage web analytics accounts (Power BI, Google Analytics, Google Search Console).
- Collaborate with engineering to create data product fulfillment solutions that meet partner/client needs.
- Work with software engineers to build, maintain, debug, and test ETL processes and data warehouse solutions.
- Ensure the data warehouse, ETL processes, data architecture, and data models meet business, technical, and user requirements.
- Partner with departments to develop and maintain reporting infrastructure for deeper insights into data.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for data privacy requests and compliance.
- Stay informed on data privacy laws and regulations, updating policies as needed.
- Conduct training for team members on data privacy best practices and incident response.
- Act as the primary liaison for data vendors/partners, ensuring timely and accurate data product fulfillment.
- Attend data-related conferences, tradeshows, or training events as needed.
· Assist with technical research to support department initiatives.
· Contribute to process automation and perform QA testing on new application features and updates.
· Provide web/application support, troubleshooting, and assistance with other departmental needs.
Qualifications:
· Excellent Power BI skills. Expert user of Excel. Experience with SQL.
· Proficient in Google Analytics.
· Working knowledge of basic statistics including Regression, ANOVA, etc...
· Experience with mathematical modeling and AWS Redshift a plus.
· Experience with Data Warehouse and ETL.
· Knowledge of U.S. data privacy laws.
· Project management skills.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Great at testing/validating BI and data analytics solutions.
· Self-motivated and able to work independently.
· Excellent attention to details and able to deliver high quality work on schedule.
· Great at following established department processes and protocols.
· Open to learn new skills required to implement and maintain data warehouse solutions.
· Positive, helpful, collaborative, work well with others and open to feedback.
· Flexible to assist with other department tasks as needed.
· Experience with Atlassian products (i.e., Jira and Confluence).
· Familiar with the agile development process.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
