Under general direction of the VP of Purchasing, this position is responsible for working with suppliers to resolve quality issues, improve process reliability, repeatability, and controls. Partner with internal and external stakeholders. Be proactive on supplier quality and management activities.
Principle Activities
- Lead supplier approval and qualification of new/revised items which includes Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Review of First Article Submissions, correlation with supplier’s methods, supplier audits, management of supplier corrective and preventative action (40%)
- Lead or facilitate Root Cause Analysis events for high impact internal and customer quality issues that drive breakthrough improvements in product quality and business processes (20%)
- Lead or assist in the development and maintenance of procedures, standard work, mistake proofing and other associated process controls (10%)
- Evaluation and analysis of supplier quality data. Project management of supplier quality initiatives (15%)
- Support New Product Development Team’s Quality Processes (FMEA, Test Plans, Reliability, etc.) (10%)
- Perform other job related duties as assigned (5%)
- Fulfill the financial control and risk management responsibilities inherent in the position.
- Conduct yourself in accordance with the Company code of ethics policy at all times.
Required Education/ Certification
- BS Degree in Engineering, Statistics, or pertinent technical field
- 5 or more years experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment in a Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Continuous Improvement role
- 3 or more years experience in Supply Chain activities
- Six Sigma experience preferred
- Project management skills with emphasis on process improvement.
- Ability to analyze technical data and make presentations to support project or supplier objectives.
- Proven ability to generate successful outcomes when working with internal and external contacts
- Ability to originate and develop complex ideas in new and undefined ways
- Ability to direct a team and manage relationships
- Skilled at planning own and others work to meet defined project plans and objectives
- Working knowledge of ISO9001
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to travel 35% to 50% of the time
- Ability to conduct activities involving digital dexterity 10%, standing 25%, sitting 75%, reaching/grasping 1%, writing 5%, typing 25%, walking 15%, kneeling/squatting/bending 3%
- Use written sources of information 50% of the time; e.g., read reports, procedural documentation, reference materials, etc.
