What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Scotsman Inn?
As a hotel property management maintenance technician, you'll ensure the hotel's physical plant is maintained, focusing on repairs, preventative measures, and guest satisfaction, while adhering to safety and quality standards. The maintenance technician will work at and be responsible for 2 properties that are 1/4 mile apart.
General Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform routine and emergency repairs to hotel rooms, common areas, and grounds.
- Address issues with plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, lighting, and other equipment.
- Inspect and repair various systems, including heating, cooling, plumbing, lighting, and kitchen equipment.
- Assist with repairing floors, roofs, and doors, and installing new products.
- Perform carpentry, painting, and other trade-related tasks as needed.
- Preventative Maintenance:
- Implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
- Regularly inspect and maintain equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other systems.
- Safety and Security:
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and brand standards.
- Report any unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Guest Satisfaction:
- Respond promptly to guest requests and work orders.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and order throughout the property.
Other Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
- Order supplies and inventory as needed.
- Follow procedures to ensure the security of inventory and assets.
- May be required to perform janitorial duties in certain areas.
- May be required to carry linens, trash, tools, etc. or when operating equipment such as a lawnmower, pavement sweeper, wheelbarrow, etc.
- Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other building systems.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems effectively.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with guests, supervisors, and other team members.
- Organization: Ability to organize work tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to pay close attention to detail and ensure quality workmanship.
- Experience: Previous experience in building maintenance or related fields is preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
