SUMMARY
The Youth Specialist will ensure a safe living environment for tenants of West Creek Apartments, which is a supportive housing community for formerly homeless youth ages 18-29. This position will provide resources to tenants and will work with the building manager and service provider as needed. Our primary program goal is to assist tenants in maintaining stable housing while working towards achieving self-sufficiency and independence. The facility is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

- Manage the front door and provide safety to the residents of West Creek Apartments.
- Maintain composure and work effectively under stressful conditions.
- Communicate effectively with property management and support service providers.
- Establish relationships with residents to help ensure their goals of stable housing is met.
- Utilize conflict resolution and crisis management skills.
- Provide information and resources on services and programs available within the service area.
- Respond to client’s defined crisis situations as needed.
- Adhere to requirement for tracking information.
- Other Duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
Experience working with individuals or families who are unhoused and / or from various social backgrounds. Special consideration given to bilingual candidates.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid Minnesota State Driver’s License, proof of insurance and review of Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and / or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. Mobility to drive a motor vehicle in order to attend meetings. A job in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with long periods of computer work and heavy phone usage.
