BASIC FUNCTION
This position includes but is not limited to the performance of various skilled and semi-skilled tasks involving the inspection, trouble-shooting, repair and maintenance of automotive, mechanical equipment and machinery at the shop and in the field. To perform all equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance, service and repair work. To ensure efficiency and quality of work performed as scheduled and “emergency” repairs performed thereby satisfying the needs of Scott Construction, Inc.
AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
The Maintenance Technician is delegated sufficient authority to make decisions and to take actions required to satisfy the responsibilities of this position. Included in this is the accountability for actions taken and not taken.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Daily contact may include various levels of management and non-management personnel, town officials and the general public.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Maintenance Technician directly reports to the Physical Assets Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines.
- Test, maintain and evaluate automotive, mechanical equipment and machinery performance using instruments such as multi-meters, scan tools, pressure gauges, etc. Record, interpret and evaluate data gathered from diagnostic test equipment.
- Remove, disassemble, overhaul and install internal combustion engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, pump power units, clutches, rear ends, etc., using hoists, hand and power tools.
- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listens to and verifies operator’s complaint using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Install and maintain company radios, phones, computers, measuring devices and safety lighting as needed.
- Maintain good working relationships with co-workers through verbal, written or electronic communication.
- Obtain parts and materials through Parts Technician.
- Keep tools clean and in good repair. Service area is to be kept clean and free of debris, all non-essential parts are to be put away. Be proficient in equipment and vehicle operation.
- Diagnose service and repair air conditioning systems using symbols/schematics/diagrams by following manufacturer standards for repair/service.
- Assist with operating and training on equipment as needed and directed.
- Analyze broken/failed parts/components and perform failure analysis as to the cause of problem to prevent future conditions.
- Maintain the company service truck so as to be ready for emergency repairs, clean and full of fluids and stocked with necessary parts and supplies.
- Fabricate parts and tools as needed to make repairs easier and more time efficient.
- Record repair work time (estimated hours to actual hours) in accordance with work order system.
- Meet quality repair work requirements while maintaining efficiency.
- Attend and participate in maintenance meetings.
- Comply with all Company policies, rules, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Perform DOT annual inspections on all vehicles and trailers as needed per DOT specifications, using Annual Vehicle Inspection Report.
- Perform service calls to jobsites as directed. Contact crew foreman upon arrival.
- Operate automotive, mechanical equipment and machinery to ensure all systems are functioning properly.
- Submit neat, accurate, and complete reports as specified.
· Be familiar with the welding process.
· Must be knowledgeable in forklift use, repair, and maintenance.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

REASONING ABILITY: Employee must be able to exercise sound judgment and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Employee must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, diagrams, symbols, schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; communicate clearly and concisely orally, electronically and written, by phone, two-way radio, in person or through written correspondence; speak effectively with co-workers; and keep accurate, thorough, and timely records and reports.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Employee must be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and draw and interpret graphs.
EDUCATION: Employee must have obtained a High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Employee must possess a valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver License (CDL), including classes ABCD and endorsements HN. Satisfactory driving record.
Employee must comply with applicable DOT, OSHA, CDL and any other regulatory required certification or recertification requirements, including physical exams and drug/alcohol tests.
