Description
Scott County Hospital and Scott County Clinic provide general medical and surgical care for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room patients. This 25-bed critical access hospital also includes 2 LDRP suites. The 68,000-square-foot facility, located in Scott City, Kansas, offers a variety of services to support our growing city and surrounding communities.
We are currently seeking a Health Information Clerk to join our team HIM Team.
Essential Functions of the Health Information Clerk:
- Transcribe accurately and review for completeness medical records of patients treated in the hospital and clinic settings. Also completeness of ROI requests.
- Review for H & P, discharge, and summary notes.
- Transcribe dictation from physicians and other professional staff.
- Handling all requests and inquiries for patient information; dispersing the information with accountability to all regulatory entities and according to the facility’s policies and procedures.
- Timely processing of requests and transcription jobs: 48 hours or less, 24 on H&P’s.
- Compiles data from medical records for periodic and statistical reports utilizing the daily census.
- Maintains registers (acute, skilled, intermediate, outpatient, emergency, death, transfer)
- Ensures receipt of all records of patients discharged from the hospital by checking the list of discharged patients or records associated with clinic and/or hospital patients
- Scans completed records into the electronic filing system as needed.
- Purges and scans old records before destruction.
- Assists with any other duties as the need arises.
Other Duties of HIM Clerk:
Assists with record release
Assists with tracking of records throughout the completion process.
Assists with Master Person Index cleanup
Assists with any other duties as the need arises
Requirements
Education, Qualifications, Experience: High school graduate with computer experience and or keyboarding skills.

Expectation of Service: This is a non-exempt 40 hour per week position. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
