Summer Help - Highway Maintenance (Full Time-Temp)

We're seeking full-time temporary summer staff (May-August) to perform duties in support of highway maintenance.  

Highway Maintenance:

• Assists with flagging, mowing and weed whipping.
• May also assist with culvert installation and erosion control.
• Works four 10-hour days.
• Vehicle and equipment cleaning
• Adopt a highway garbage pick up
• Assists with replacing signs along highways

This job requires being outdoors for long periods of time with hours starting at 6 am.
 
Work in the field may be hazardous and dirty. Includes working in Traffic areas and work zones. Work will require walking up and down roadway slopes. Outside work 95%, inside work 5% of the time.
 
This position will be opened until filled.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Ability to use power and hand tools.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds.
• Ability to do basic math calculations

Selection for this position will be based on a minimum qualifications screening and rating of training and experience. Top candidates will be forwarded to the hiring manager or supervisor for consideration for interview and/or additional assessments. Final selection will include a background check and approval by the County Board.

Salary : $17 - $18
