Qualifications:
- Highly competent skilled youth professional
- Knowledge, experience and abilities in youth development
- Skilled Manager of projects, programs and/or after school programs
- Ability to organize tasks, manage time, and prioritize projects
- Proficient in use of basic office computer programs and the internet
- Leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with a variety of people and groups
- Ability to pass background checks including fingerprinting
- CYC preferred (or willingness to obtain certification)
Job Summary:
The SCNL Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, management, and expansion of the weekly non-faith based drop-in youth night in Scott County. The SCNL Coordinator will work with middle and high school aged youth to plan and implement youth selected weekly meals/activities and events. Youth activities vary each week and range from cooking/baking, outdoor games, board games, sports, movies, arts/crafts and community outings. The SCNL Coordinator will be assisted by a community volunteer each week.
It is the SCNL Coordinator’s role to mentor, create social norms, and nurture social and emotional development while maintaining a physically and emotionally safe environment.
Expected Outcomes:
1. At minimum, maintain current level of programming while continuing goals to expand future programming
2. Provide a safe, substance free environment where adolescent aged youth can learn healthy coping skills and boundaries.
3. Reduce youth risk for substance misuse and involvement in the youth justice system.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Using a youth driven approach, plan activities and meals with youth.
2. Purchase and prepare materials for chosen activities/meals.
3. Supervise youth and maintain physical and emotional safety for participants at all times.
4. Publicize upcoming events via established social media accounts and other community relationships.
5. Complete program reports in a timely manner.
6. Take leadership of the program.
7. Utilize established coalitions and connections in Scott County for building local enthusiasm for SCNL.
8. Attend monthly SCP staff meetings and other required all staff meetings/trainings.
9. Collaborate with other SCP staff when appropriate for support, networking and information.
10. Assist SCP staff on various SCP events such as fund-raisers, community information dissemination events, etc.
Education:
Minimum of High School Diploma/High School Equivalency Diploma
College Degree Preferred
Physical requirements:
- Ability to carry bags and boxes of resources from place to place (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to independently navigate 1 flight of stairs.
- Ability to stand, sit and bend.
- Ability to transport and assemble displays for community events as needed.
- Ability to work during out of school hours.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
