Glass & Glazing Estimator
Our client is looking for an experienced Glass & Glazing Estimator to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing project specifications, preparing accurate cost estimates, and coordinating with vendors and contractors to ensure competitive pricing and project success. This role requires strong knowledge of glass, glazing systems, curtain walls, storefronts, and architectural metalwork, along with excellent analytical and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate cost estimates.
- Prepare detailed take-offs and material lists for glass, glazing systems, curtain walls, storefronts, and related components.
- Obtain and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and clients to clarify project requirements and scope.
- Develop and submit proposals and bids within established deadlines.
- Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and potential cost savings.
- Assist in negotiating contracts, budgets, and schedules with clients and subcontractors.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and pricing.
- Track and manage bid pipeline, ensuring timely follow-ups and documentation.
Requirements
- 3 years of experience in estimating for glass and glazing or a related construction trade.
- Strong understanding of commercial and residential glazing systems, curtain walls, and storefronts.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings.
- Experience with estimating software (such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar tools).
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
