Job Summary:
The Security Entrance Monitor (SEM) Para serves as the first point of contact for students, staff, and visitors entering the Scott building. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe and secure environment while providing exceptional customer service. The SEM monitors building access, verifies identities, and ensures adherence to security protocols. Additionally, this position involves data entry, recordkeeping, and providing administrative support for building programs. The ideal candidate is a professional, detail-oriented individual with strong communication and technology skills, capable of working effectively as part of a team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Security Monitoring:
- Monitor all building entrances and exits, ensuring only authorized individuals enter the premises.
- Verify the identity of visitors, students, and staff, following established security procedures.
- Operate and monitor security systems, including access control systems and surveillance equipment.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to security incidents and emergencies.
- Enforce building security policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of visitor logs and entry/exit data.
- Customer Service:
- Greet and assist students, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide accurate information and directions to building occupants and visitors.
- Address inquiries and resolve issues promptly and efficiently.
- Handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Act as a problem solver for people arriving to the building.
- Administrative Support:
- Perform accurate and timely data entry for various building programs.
- Maintain and organize electronic and paper records.
- Utilize software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and other relevant systems for data management and reporting.
- Assist with the preparation of reports and documentation.
- Learn and adapt to new technology and software systems as required.
- Assist with other administrative duties as assigned.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Be flexible and willing to assist in other areas as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proven experience in a customer service or security-related role preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using computer software applications, including Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and data entry systems.
2024-2025 Salary: $15.96/hour (2025-2026 salary is pending board approval).
