Master Stained Glass Builder

Scottish Stained Glass is an award winning, Denver company leading the way for unique commercial and residential stained-glass projects across the United States. Over the past few years our stained glass restorations have increased to the point where restorations have become a separate company division.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Master Artisan to join our stained glass team. This position requires a deep understanding of stained glass/ dalle glass techniques, exceptional craftsmanship, and a passion for creating intricate, high-quality works of art. The Master Builder will lead complex projects, mentor team members, and ensure each piece meets the highest standards of quality and precision.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the assembly, cutting, painting, leading, and pouring of stained glass/ dalle de verre panels for residential, commercial, and restoration projects.
• Select and handle appropriate materials, including glass types, colors, and textures, to achieve desired effects and proper color matches.
• Supervise and mentor junior craftsmen, providing hands-on training and guidance to develop their skills. Delegate tasks effectively to ensure project timelines are met.
• Oversee the restoration of historic stained glass, including cleaning, repair, re-leading panels, or repouring while preserving original artistry. Assess and document the condition of pieces, proposing appropriate restoration methods and problem solving.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a stained glass builder with over 10 years of general stained glass/ dalle de verre experience and at least 5 years of restoration experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing completed projects.
• Mastery of stained glass techniques, including glass cutting, glass matching, dalle fascetting, epoxy pouring, leading, soldering, glazing, foil, plating, and reinforcing.
• Understanding of carpentry and wood repair.
• Familiarity with tools and equipment specific to stained glass production and installation.
• Knowledge of structural integrity and safety practices for stained glass installations.
• Strong artistic sensibility with attention to detail and color theory.
• Ability to interpret architectural plans and adapt designs to meet project requirements.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage teams and collaborate effectively
• Knowledge of historical stained glass techniques and restoration standards.
• A proven ability to independently problem solve and propose solutions.

Desirable Skills: glass painting, acid etching, welding, metal fabrication, woodworking, carpentry, fusing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
