Job Description
Job Title: Direct Support Professional, SV HHAP
Department: Homeless and Housing Assistance Program
Supervisor: Facility Manager
FSLA Status: Non-exempt / Full-Time
Salary: G4/S1-G4/S5 DOE
SUMMARY:
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) for the SV HHAP Program plays a vital role in the daily lives of our residents. This position involves providing direct care, guidance, and support to residents while assisting them with daily living activities and helping them achieve their personal goals. The DSP must balance maintaining professional boundaries with building positive relationships with residents from diverse backgrounds.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide Direct Care to Residents:
· Administer medications to residents by CCLD standards
· Transport residents to appointments and activities, as needed.
· Engage with and build rapport with residents from diverse backgrounds while still maintaining professional boundaries.
· Maintain a clean and safe living environment.
· Basic cooking skills and ability to follow a recipe
· Facilitate group activities and recreational programs
Provide Trauma Informed Care & Crisis Interventions:
· Ability to clearly frontload expectations
· Respond to crisis situations and implement de-escalation techniques.
· Implement residents' Needs and Services Plans and Emergency Intervention Plans
· Maintain consistency and behavioral limits through programmatic-based interventions
Administrative Tasks:
· Document residents’ daily mood and behavior in an objective manner
· Fill out MARs forms following each medication count and administering
· Document progression of resident goals in an objective manner
· Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Maintaining and organizing filing system for both physical and digital documents
· Ensuring all records are up-to-date and easily accessible.
· Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, TEAMS); ability to create, edit, and manage spreadsheets and documents efficiently.
· Maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
· Strong organizational skills- demonstrating ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
· Excellent attention to detail
· Time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
· Strong communication skills - verbal and written; processing written documents and corresponding
· Transportation
· Other developmental duties as assigned
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Other duties that may be delegated from time to time.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate must possess:
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to build relationships with families, school staff, and community agencies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
In addition, qualified applicants shall have as a minimum
Meet one of the following qualifications:
· Have obtained a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree
· Have obtained a valid Child Development Teaching Permit
· Have completed 12 semester units of ECE or similar and completed at least 100 hours of on-the-job experience working with children.
· Have a valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor, or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have completed at least 100 hours of on-the-job experience working with children.
· Have a valid vocational training certificate, credential, or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and has at least 100 hours of experience working with children or adults.
· Previously been employed as a full-time staff or served as a volunteer at a group home, short term residential therapeutic program, or substance abuse treatment program for at least one year.
· Have relevant life experience in the child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice system as a consumer, mentor, or caregiver.
· Have relevant life experience with children who have experienced high levels of trauma.
· At a minimum, a direct care staff shall demonstrate all of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
1. Knowledge and understanding of the needs of children served in a children’s residential setting.
2. Skills and ability to engage and develop a rapport with children who have diverse backgrounds.
3. Skills and ability to provide consistency and behavioral limits through relationship-based interventions.
4. Skills to communicate effectively with the ability to solve problems in a collaborative manner.
· A successful background check, including drug and alcohol screening, Livescan, and criminal history clearances
· A valid class “C” California Driver’s License
· Reliable transportation.

Pay: $21.59 - $24.47 per hour
