Job Description
Job Title: Resource Advocate
Department: Victims Services
Supervisor: Victims Services Programs Manager
FSLA Status: Non Exempt Full-Time
Salary: G5/S3-G5/S5 (DOE)
SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Victims Services Program Manager, the Resource Advocate will perform tasks related to creating and maintaining relationships with community partners, while arranging educational presentations on resources for the tribal clients and the local community. This position will require scheduling, organizing, and facilitating ongoing classes and events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Identification and Outreach:
· Collaborate with outside agencies and community partners to identify victims, survivors, and families of victimization.
· Conduct outreach efforts to raise awareness of the needs and rights of victims.
· Build partnerships with local agencies to improve identification efforts.
Parent and Guardian Engagement:
· Inform parents and guardians of available educational opportunities and support services for their children and families of victimization.
· Encourage active participation from parents and guardians in their children’s healing services.
Professional Development:
· Provide training sessions for the community on identifying and supporting victims of crime.
· Offer professional development on the impacts of traumatization and available services for these families.
Identification and Needs Assessment:
· Including the needs of victims of crime and their families, as well as creating safety plans.
Interagency Collaboration:
· Partner with agencies to coordinate services for victims and their families.
· Work toward a unified approach to meet Federal requirements for serving victims of crime.
Supportive Services:
· Transporting victims of crime and their families to identified appointments within the 5 counties (Lake, Mendocino, Sonoma, Alameda, and Contra Costa).
· Assisting with temporary restraining orders (TRO), as well as emergency/scattered housing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Continuous collaboration with the community, outreach, and cultural events.
· Organizing and scheduling appointments/meetings
· Assisting in organizing office activities, events, facilitating groups
· Assisting all Tribal Members with needs and resources within the community
· Photocopying, scanning and faxing documents
· Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, TEAMS)
· Processing written documents and correspondence
· Maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
· Time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
· Communication skills - verbal and written
· Case coordination with team members
· Other developmental duties as assigned
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Other duties that may be delegated from time to time.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate must possess:
· Clear and concise verbal and written skills.
· Knowledge of relevant software applications including MS Office
· Ability to work effectively, either independently or cooperatively with others
· Ability to maintain confidentiality
· Intercultural sensitivity
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Community outreach skills with an emphasis of professionalism and public speaking
· Must be able to use all forms of office equipment including computers, telephones, calculators, copiers, and a FAX machine.
· An understanding of professionalism in the workplace
· An understanding of historical trauma as it relates to Native Americans
Meet one of the following qualifications:
· Have obtained a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree
· Two years- on-the-job experience working with victims or case management.
· Have a valid vocational training certificate, credential, or documentation demonstrating that the individual has knowledge in victimization advocacy.
· Have relevant life experience with children who have experienced high levels of trauma.
· A successful background check, including drug and alcohol screening, Livescan, and criminal history clearances
· A valid class “C” California Driver’s License
· Reliable transportation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.77 - $27.38 per hour
