POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining Guest Services and overseeing the operation of the store to ensure maximum sales and profitability through merchandise, inventory, and expense control, and management of operating costs and shrinkage
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Ensuring that each Guest receives outstanding Guest Service by providing a friendly environment; this includes greeting and acknowledging every Guest, maintaining outstanding standards, and having solid product knowledge.
· Maintaining a strong knowledge of all product information, merchandise promotions, merchandise, and advertisements.
· Assisting in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and store housekeeping.
· Adhering to all Company policies, procedures, and practices including signing, pricing and loss prevention.
· Communicating Guest requests to management.
· Processing sales, accepting payments and resolving price discrepancies, and return change.
· Assisting in processing and replenishing merchandise; participating in receiving and monitoring floor stock.
· Ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures through regular store management and staff meetings, store walk-through and audits, etc.
· Overseeing staff and fulfilling staffing needs during regular hours, as well as special events or high-traffic times and ensuring breaks/lunches are met.
· Stocking products including rotation and checking for out of code products.
· Training and developing store personnel in all aspects of the business, direct and monitor training and development for all store personnel.
· Answering guest questions about products or services.
· Scanning goods and ensuring pricing is accurate. Following through with corrections and letting the appropriate department know of any discrepancies/errors.
· Issuing receipts, refunds, change from items purchased, and processing returns.
· Promoting products.
· Knowing where products are in the store to assist customers
· Memorizing codes.
· Bagging, boxing, or wrapping purchased items.
· Maintaining a clean work area.
· Ensuring store safety for guests and staff. Staying up to date on the safety protocols for spills and clean ups.
· Maintaining an organized cash draw with cash facing in the same direction.
· Flexibility to learn and work in other departments as needed.
· Confirming daily sales reports and cash receipts; ensuring monies are deposited regularly, and reports are submitted as prescribed by company policies.
· Addressing guest needs and resolving issues, ensuring positive and long-term guest relationships.
· Facing/display store/Filling.
· Working with Human Resource when it comes to disciplinary actions and termination of employees as needed in accordance with company policy.
· Counting tills for opening the store and closing the store.
· Placing tills in cash registers.
· Ensuring tills are placed in the safe at night.
· Knowledge of receiving procedures and hours.
· Responsible for store incident report.
· Ordering supplies as needed.
· Ordering point items, stock and signage for point items.
· Ensuring that the store always looks clean and inviting.
· Filling in for all departments as needed.
· Performing other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
· 5 years previous retail or customer service experience, with 2 years in a management role
· High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
· Proven understanding of industry standards and trends
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as department manual
· Excellent customer service skills and the ability to diffuse tense situations
· Demonstrated ability to manage employees with varying shifts and responsibilities
· Willingness to cover shifts and responsibilities of other employees as needed
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
· Organized with attention to detail.
· Works well under pressure and deadlines; ability to multitask.
· Strong leadership and management skills with ability to motivate staff.
· Must be able to fill in when personnel resources are low.
· Ability to develop and maintain budgets
· Thorough understanding of company policies and practices.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
