TITLE: Child Nutrition Program (CNP) Manager
REPORTS TO: CNP Director & Principal
FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt
TERMS: 187 Days
EVALUATION: State and/or Local Evaluation Protocol
JOB GOAL:
To supervise lunchroom operations and staff of employees to implement the high standards of nutrition, food production, financial accountability, and student services set forth by the Child Nutrition Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years experience in food service operations or related work.
- Work experience and knowledge of safety, sanitation, food preparation, and equipment in quantity food production service.
- Shall need the qualifications for Child Nutrition Manager as described in 290-080-030.05 of the Alabama State Board of Education Administrative Code.
- Have or obtain food protection manager training and certification (ServSafe).
- A minimum of 16 Professional Development hours must be obtained yearly.
- Ability to use technology to communicate, manage data, produce and submit required reports, correspondence, and financial information.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Punctuality and regular attendance.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be familiar with local, state, and federal regulations regarding food safety and USDA meal pattern requirements.
- Provide cordial and professional service while working cooperatively with administrators, co-workers, teachers, staff, parents, students, and visitors.
- Guide and direct employees with planned schedules and work assignments.
- Perform a formal evaluation a minimum of one yearly.
- Participate in staff development programs and attend other meetings as required.
- Follow planned menus and provide appropriate standardized recipes.
- Implement and monitor HACCP procedures and ensure accurate records are maintained.
- Ensure high-quality food preparation and serving standards. Assists in food preparation as necessary.
- Responsible for ordering, receiving, storing, handling, preparing, and serving food according to established standards.
- Inspect food deliveries and report any shortages or incorrect deliveries to the CNP director and/or designee.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
- Supervise and instruct personnel in the safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment. Report the condition and maintenance needs of kitchen equipment to the CNP Director and/or designee.
- Prepare and submit accurate fiscal and operating reports to the Child Nutrition Program Director's office on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Maintain cost control through planning, purchase of food and supplies, us of USDA Commodities, inventory control, and food preparation.
- Account for all money received and be responsible for daily bank deposits.
- Take accurate inventories of food, supplies, smallwares, and equipment.
- Use technology to communicate, manage data, produce and submit required reports, correspondence, online ordering, and financial information.
- Maintain confidentiality of work-related issues, records, and school-related information.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position may require some bending, stooping, standing for multiple hours at a time, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and other repetitive motions. Anything weighing more than 30 pounds requires assistance from another co-worker.
