Your Essential Responsibilities:
- Create a welcoming environment and safe place for people of the church to engage with the mission of our church and connect with others on a path toward greater authentic community
- Personally uphold the retail services mission for both the public-facing and internal-facing elements
- Maintain the four core values of the mission by striving for excellence in quality, service, cleanliness, and value
- Aide in the recruiting and developing of volunteers, moving them from basic participants to engaged volunteers and then to ownership (PEO) roles within the ministry by helping develop role descriptions and effectively using Rock for volunteer management
- Provide quality beverages and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to presentation standards
- Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products
- Become educated on all products and services including all coffee/tea beverages and food. This includes knowledge of all specials, ingredients, and recipes
- Set up all stations (as assigned) and collect all necessary supplies to prepare menu for service
- Prepare a variety of beverages and food including meat, seafood, poultry, vegetables and cold food items
- Notify Supervisor or Central Retail Services Director in advance of any shortages of products
- Follow all operational procedures and policies with opening and closing shifts
- Complete all cash handling in an accurate and timely manner
- Follow all operational instructions to ensure the safety of all employees and customers throughout shift
- Ensure regular cleaning maintenance is completed on equipment
- Follow all knife safety rules and procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace so that employees can locate resources and products as needed
- Maintain organization of customer areas so that customers can locate products easily
- Proactively complete all necessary housekeeping tasks
- Make sure all storage areas are tidy and all products are stored appropriately
- Constantly use safe and hygienic food handling practices
- Deliver outstanding service to all customers both internal and external
- Be attentive and responsive to all customer needs
- Anticipate customer and café needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues
- Assist in training new hires and volunteers by setting the example of what our mission is
- Related duties or special projects as assigned
