The Facilities Director is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of the school?s physical campus, including buildings, grounds, and related infrastructure. This position ensures that the campus environment is safe, clean, efficient, and conducive to learning. The Facilities Director will lead a team of maintenance staff, manage budgets, and collaborate with other departments to support the school?s operational needs and long-term goals.
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES:
- Education & Certification:
- Bachelor?s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Experience & Skills:
- 5 years of prior facilities management or related field experience required.
- Previous experience in a K-12 Christian education setting preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to manage a team, delegate tasks, and prioritize responsibilities.
- Physical Requirements:
- Bend, stoop, twist, turn, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, carry, pull, push, climb, and kneel; walking and standing approximately 75% of the workday.
- Enjoys being outside in AZ weather at regular intervals up to 75% of the workday.
- Willingness to be on call for emergency situations as needed.
- Must be able to traverse school grounds and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily operations and maintenance of school buildings, classrooms, athletic facilities, and outdoor spaces.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for all facilities and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
- Coordinate repairs and improvements for building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security.
- Develop work schedules and assign tasks to ensure timely completion of all facility-related responsibilities.
- Develop and manage the facilities budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and staying within budgetary constraints.
- Procure materials, supplies, and services necessary for the upkeep of the campus.
- Track and report on facilities expenditures and provide recommendations for cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure that all school facilities meet health and safety standards and regulations, including fire codes, emergency preparedness, and cleanliness protocols.
- Regularly inspect buildings and grounds for potential hazards and take corrective actions when necessary.
- Lead facility improvement and renovation projects, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Work with contractors, architects, and external vendors as needed for construction, repair, and maintenance work.
- Work closely with the administrative team, faculty, and staff to understand facility needs and support school programs and events.
- Provide regular updates to the school leadership team on the status of facilities, maintenance issues, and any upcoming projects.
