SCA conducts pre-employment and drug screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check, verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses, and certifications. A Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card is also required.
The High School Assistant Athletic Director will provide oversight and administrative support for the planning, direction, implementation, supervision, and assessment of athletic programs at Scottsdale Christian Academy (SCA). The Assistant Athletic Director will promote co-curricular athletic activity that fosters skill development, sportsmanship, understanding of sports, and appreciation of being a team member. The successful candidate will understand and embrace the mission of SCA, possess superior character and integrity, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and leadership skills. This position reports to the Athletic Director.
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES:
- Education & Certification:
- Bachelor?s Degree in Physical Education, Sports Management or a related field from an accredited college is required; Master?s Degree in athletic administration preferred.
- State teaching certification preferred.
- Experience:
- Prior teaching and/or coaching experience preferred.
- Skills:
- Ability to develop authentic relationships with students and coaches.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem resolution skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
- Excellent organizational skills for multi-tasking and prioritizing responsibilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Physical Requirements:
- Bend, stoop, twist, turn, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, carry, pull, push, climb, and kneel; walking and standing approximately 75% of the workday.
- Enjoys being outside in AZ weather at regular intervals up to 75% of the workday.
- Must be able to traverse school grounds and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- In partnership with the Athletic Director, hire, train and evaluate coaches. Observe and assist in overseeing coach, parent, and team behavior.
- Serve as the site administrator for athletic events; assist with game set up, supervision and break down.
- Create and manage team, site, and transportation schedules.
- Collect athletic participation packets. Create and revise cleared/ineligible rosters to coach or A.D.
- Enter and update schedules, locations, scores, photos, and game summaries on the SCA website.
- Manage all awards banquets and team recognitions including award nominations from coaches, ordering trophies/plaques, and scheduling and advertising dates including senior nights. Collect information for presentations, work with coaches during ceremonies and print team certificates.
- Serve as the primary communication contact with coaches for game schedules, changes, and post-game summaries.
- Serve as the primary communication contact with parents for game schedules, changes, cancellation alerts and practice or game directions.
