Koi is about access to capital and wealth creation
Koi is building the Nasdaq for debt—an efficient marketplace where banks and other financial institutions can seamlessly buy and sell loans. We’re transforming lending to empower borrowers and businesses with the capital access they need to build resilient financial futures for themselves and their communities.
We’re starting with a specific type of loan called CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) loans. CRA loans support low- and moderate-income communities, and every U.S. bank is required by law to either offer or purchase these loans to ensure underserved communities have access to capital.
Today, the process of buying and selling CRA loans is inefficient and fragmented. Koi simplifies this with a platform where banks can quickly find and buy the loans they need, or sell loans they already hold. When banks buy loans, they’re providing funding for new loans that directly benefits underserved communities. Put another way, loan sales free up capital for sellers—creating liquidity that allows them to make new loans and drive economicgrowth.
While we’re starting with the $600B CRA loan market, growing liquidity and powering more lending, Koi’s vision reaches far beyond. Our future is in all lending markets—evolving from a marketplace to a movement, fueling economic growth, and building a more equitable financial system.
Role Roadmap
We are a small team based in NYC looking to hire our second founding engineer. As a founding engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to wear multiple hats, directly interact with our customers and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our product.
We’re looking for high-output, customer-focused, and growth-oriented thinkers to help solve some of the most complex challenges ahead of us. If you don’t like growth, ownership, intensity, bold vision, and a deeply important mission, we’re not the team for you.
About the Role
This is a challenging and dynamic role and you will be working on architecting and implementing full-stack product features in languages like Typescript/React/Python. You will…
- Help establish and influence engineering process, culture, systems, code base, and all things relating to engineering.
- Ship, ship ship! — exceptional, thoughtful features and code
- Help make strategic decisions about what to build, why, and when, as well as how to approach business challenges associated with early-stage startups
- Collaborate directly with the cofounders on what to build and how to build it, and really all things relating to the business
- Drive the engineering and product roadmaps based on customer feedback and thoughtful analysis
What we’re looking for
- Attributes:Have 1-3 years experience in a Software Engineering role, or evidence of exceptional technical abilityHave proficiency in Python & Typescript
