What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Operator position at Scout Energy Management?
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ability to load trucks (bobtails, 18-wheel trailers, pickup trucks, flatbeds, etc.)
- Ability to operate rubber tire front-end loaders
- Perform weekly light maintenance on heavy construction equipment in accordance with maintenance schedules
- Ability to operate various equipment including road graders (specifically a Caterpillar 140 M), backhoes, excavators, dozers, plows or trenchers for the installation or maintenance of underground utilities
- Perform construction activities in the placement or maintenance of underground utilities including digging around existing utilities, placing conduit, placing hand holes, placing manholes, backfilling and compacting
- Ensure that one-call notifications have been submitted and adhere to the rules for working within the time limitations
- Maintain all company provided tools and equipment (cell phone, vehicle, computer, etc.)
- Submit accurate field tickets to Office Admins or Supervisor (may vary by location)
- Perform other various tasks as assigned by the Foreman

- Works safely and adheres to all company guidelines, policies, and procedures
- Must be familiar with OSHA Regulations regarding trench safety and embrace Scout’s safety culture including safe operation of equipment, appropriate PPE and participating in daily and weekly safety talks
- Strong work ethic, punctual, and motivated
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced high-pressure production environment
- Has basic computer skills; data entry into various electronic databases or the ability to learn
- Maintain good housekeeping in all areas of responsibility
- Has integrity, good communication skills, and a positive attitude
Education & Qualifications
- Possess a valid driver’s license, CDL a plus (may be required in some locations)
- Three (3) years’ experience with construction, excavation, and related heavy equipment operation required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug and background check
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited, state-certified program
- Certifications from trade schools and/or professional organizations are preferred
- Must be capable and willing to work overtime as required
- Knowledgeable in operating and maintaining equipment within oil and gas facilities preferred
- Capable of lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50lbs
- Capable of rigorous outdoor activities with physical ability to work extended hours, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, working with arms extended above the head, twisting upper body, standing for long periods, exposure to extreme weather conditions, driving a vehicle, operation of forklifts and light industrial equipment
